Christine's Page

Accessibility Notes

These pages were designed with a bias towards accessibility, particularly in respect to sight-impaired people. An effort has been made to follow the June 97 version of the (link follows) Unified Web Site Accessibility Guidelines.

All interesting or relevant pictures include an alternative textual description (in the form of H.T.M.L. 'ALT' tags, which enable an author to give the reader a short basic textual description of the picture), and also 'D' links (a letter 'D' next to the picture, which is a link itself leading to a page of text with a more thorough description of the picture of interest.) Any picture missing a 'D' link or an 'ALT' tag can safely be considered eye-candy and therefore ignored.

All non-obvious links include the expression (link follows) at the begining of them. All lists of links are clearly numbered, with a note before the list indicating their presence and their size.

An effort was made to use high-contrasting colours for the text and background, and although background images are used, in theory they ought not to reduce the readability of the text. Also, no font tags have been used to force font size changes, and no tables or unusual text formatting techniques have been implemented.

It is not necessary to use the forward or back navigation functions of your browser to move through the pages in this site, as the end of each page will feature a list of links to any other relevant pages.

I would dearly appreciate any comments on increasing the accessibility to this site. If you would like to offer a comment, then please feel free to write to send an e-mail to me (address below.)

Please enjoy the site!
