Christine's Pages

Recommended Links

The following list gives details of 12 other web pages on the internet that I can recommend:

  1. The Northern Concord
This is the web homepage for 'The Northern Concord', Manchester's T.V./T.S. support group. This has to be the best one-stop link-shop for all information and links regarding transsexuality and transvestism in the U.K.
  2. TGFolk Mailing List Homepage
TG-Folk is a U.K.-oriented internet mailing list, for all friendly transsexuality or transvestism related discussion. It is well known for being extremely welcoming, and happily invites any individuals interested in the subject, whether or not you are T.V. (transvestite) or T.S. (transsexual), to join in with the discussions (as long as you also are prepared to show a similar level of friendlyness and respect for others on the list.)
  3. Gendertalk
This is a U.S. weekly radio programme onh transgender issues.  The programme runs approximately 2 hours and is downloadable in mp3 format from the web site.
  4. Press For Change Campaign
This is the homepage for Press For Change, an organisation campaigning for fairer rights in the U.K. for people who are transsexual. As you will no doubt already know, transsexual people are still, to this day, denied the right to marry when in heterosexual relationships like any other couple in the U.K., but there are a great many other human rights denied to us which everyone else takes for granted - usually for no good reason other than laziness by politicians. Check out this page for more details, and perhaps consider lending your support?
  5. Cheryl's Homepage
The homepage of Cheryl, to whom the song "Let Me Out Of Here" is dedicated, and to whom I am indebted for all her endeavours in getting the C.D. together. Thanks Cheryl.
  6. for the people
A chat room website that uses speech rather than text for talk.
  7. A Compendium of Corporate Cringe
Have you ever wondered how companies can take themselves so seriously?  Take a listen to some of these corporate anthems and carry on wondering!
  8. Arts and Ideas Daily
A really good site for viewing the world's newspapers and periodicals.
  9. Betanews
A news site giving details of new beta software for all platforms.
  10. National Centre for Accessible Media
A research and development centre working to make media accessible to various often ignored groups, including but not limited to the disabled.
  11. Unified Web Site Accessibility Guidelines
A comprehensive set of guidelines for writing widely accessible web pages.
  12. Bobby: Web Accessibility Verifier
Quoting from the web page: "Bobby is a free web-based service that will help you make web pages accessible to people with disabilities. It will also find HTML compatibility problems that prevent pages from displaying correctly on different web browsers." Simply give it the URL of a page, and it'll report on any accessibility problems it finds in a page.
